John Sez:
By John Harris, Belcaro Paint, Paint Chemist
Many times a day we work with folks in search for the RIGHT color. We are willing and able to help in the color selection process but we hope to get to talk with the final color decision-maker before much paint is purchased.
We are able to give better color advice if we can see the other elements of color that will be placed in the rooms. For convenience, many folks who have just bought a house would like to paint the walls before all the furnishings have been moved in. Unfortunately, it is difficult to know how all of the colors, including the paint will interact in an unfurnished room.
Our color help consists of listening, viewing the colored articles brought to us and making suggestions. Since all of us have different likes and dislikes, it is important that we listen carefully and work with our customer’s color preferences and goals.
We have one strong suggestion. If there are any accessories with color that need to be purchased for a given room, it is best to buy those items before selecting a paint color. Furnishings such as accessories, pieces of art, carpets, rugs, curtains, bedspreads, towels, curtains, etc. all come in limited colors. As these items are being collected it is important to compare them to each other to be sure they will all look great in the same room. Only after making the decision on the room furnishings should one start on the paint color. One of the many thousand paint colors is bound to tie together all of the other elements of color in the room. It can be very frustrating to find, after all the painting and furnishing is completed, that another paint color would have been a better choice.
