I have recently seen a few wallpaper patterns that are especially fun to consider in a child’s room. There are cowboy themes with rodeo bucking broncos, ancient maps showing far away places, hunting and fishing themes set in beautiful mountain scenes, dogs and puppy pictures.

But the one wallpaper and border combination that really fascinated me is the castle. This wallpaper is about 3 feet high and is a continuous stone castle pattern, a moat at the bottom, periodic drawbridge doors, pennants and flags and turrets. The strip of castle may be cut vertically and applied to the wall at different heights, to give a more realistic castle look. The border, instead of running horizontally, is a continuous tower that may be cut in different lengths and pasted on the castle to create even more interest and variation in height. An infinite number of combinations may be achieved to fit the room and space available.

We liked this castle idea so much we have used it in the kid’s area of our Littleton store. We painted a scenic landscape mural on the wall first. We applied the castle wallpaper in an interesting way, and then we built a particle board foreground with cutout windows to support a little desk, then faux finished the particleboard with stones to match the castle in the background. No child comes into the store who is not drawn this play area.

Other ideas for the kids are our Chalkboard Coating and our Magnetic Paint. Make any area of a wall useful for fun and self expression.

If you would like more information on livening up your child’s play or bedroom stop in to either of our stores and see what the latest wallpapers are.
